Armeen Musa
Sangama: Love, Devotion, Union.
Armeen Musa is a singer-songwriter, composer, poet, and actor. Her work moves fluidly between English and Bengali, contemporary songwriting and South Asian musical traditions as singer and composer. Her work includes projects such as Coke Studio, soundtracks in India and Bangladesh, directing live productions, as well as her intimate original shows of original songs.
She has formed Bangladesh’s first choir to perform Western arrangements of classic Bengali songs, Ghaashphoring Choir, a collection of vocally reimagined versions of popular repertoire.
Armeen made her acting debut under renowned director Syed Jamil Ahmed in the stage adaptation of "Ami Birangona Bolchi" at the National Theatre of Bangladesh. She was part of the principal cast and composed the eleven-song live soundtrack for the production.
Her original song “Jaago Piya” is part of the album "Shuruat" by the Berklee Indian Ensemble, which was nominated at the 65th Grammy Awards in the category of Best Global Music Album.
As a producer, Armeen has also created the first Bengali vocal sample libraries for the internationally used music platform Splice, bringing Bengali voices into contemporary global production spaces.
Currently, Armeen is working on her multi-language project, Sangama, a new venture into singing and arranging pieces from all over the world.
Sangama is a collection of songs I am learning and sharing through performance and small videos — intimate and evolving.
It is a space away from defining myself as “from here” or “fluent in that.” Instead, it is a place of exploration, where I don’t have to choose one identity over another.
And I hope it is the beginning of a long-term journey.
